MAYOR AND COUNCIL POSITIONS OPEN

The City Councilor positions occupied by Councilors Tucker and King are up for election this year.  The Mayoral position is also open as it comes up for election every two years. Adair Village City Charter requires that all nominating petitions be filed as one instrument (all signature pages delivered at the same time) between August 1^st and the third Friday of August, which is August 20^th this year.  25 valid signatures are required and Nominating Petitions must have my signature before you can circulate them; each nominating petition has room for 10 signatures. 

Benton County requires 15 days to certify the signatures, so to be totally safe, your nominating petitions should come to the City Recorder by August 4^th, which would allow the County the complete time needed to certify signatures and for you to find out if you have less than 25 certified signatures.  Of course, if you have more than 25 signatures, there is less chance that you will run into any certification problems.

You must fill out SEL 120—Filing of Candidacy for Nonpartisan Nomination and bring that to the City Recorder.  The Benton County website has the form to fill in online or to print and fill in by hand at http://www.co.benton.or.us/admin/elections/citycouncil.php.  Anyone may come in and I can help you fill in Form SEL 120.
